A BUS service is being withdrawn with the introduction of a new shuttle service in Durham.
Today, the new Cathedral Bus takes to the road, serving the peninsula area of the city where a £2 road toll will soon be introduced.
The development means the end of the road for the City Courier, number 40, service between Merryoaks, Farmwellgate Moor and the city centre.
Durham County Council, which is introducing the Cathedral Bus, says alternatives to the 40 are available.
These include the Arriva and Go Northern 723 service and a new service, 59A, run by Gardiners between Frankland Road and Milburngate Bridge.
The Scarlet Band 41 service from Hett to Merryoaks and Durham will take in Allergate and Milburngate Bridge and the Gardiners service 59 between Durham, Crossgate and Pittington, will run with a slightly revised timetable.
