ABOUT £10,000 and up to four kilos of cannabis was seized from two raids in the Pallister Park and town centre areas of Middlesbrough on Friday.
Members of Middlesbrough Drugs Unit along with the District Support Unit carried out the raids. Six people were arrested and released on bail pending results of police tests.
GARDEN FESTIVAL: This year's Autumn Gold Garden Festival is being held at Preston Park Museum on the weekend of September 7 and 8. Stalls include hand-crafted and sculptured gifts. It will be open from 10am to 6pm on the Saturday, and from 9.30am to 5.30pm on the Sunday. Admission is £3 for adults and £2.50 for concessions. Children under 16 will be admitted free.
MUSIC MAD: Cadburys, Walkers and Pepsi, along with the Asda store in Hartlepool, are going music mad. Between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, customers will be able to try karaoke, take part in music quizzes and enter a free prize draw to win tickets to a pop concert. Staff from the store will dress as their favourite pop stars to help the day go with a swing.
FLORAL ART: Saltburn Library is exhibiting watercolour paintings by local artist Wendy Ainley. The paintings, mainly on a floral theme, are all for sale and are available for viewing until August 30.
CLASS REUNION: A reunion for 1987 leavers from Ian Ramsey School, Stockton, is being held at the Riverside function room, Stockton, on August 24 at 7pm. Tickets are £5 on the night.
DELAYS EXPECTED: Stockton Borough Council will be carrying out bridge waterproofing works on the A1130 Mandale Road railway bridge from today for five weeks. The work will involve lane closures. Major delays are expected at peak times and motorists are advised to use an alternative route if possible.
SEASHORE COLLAGES: Youngsters aged five to 14 are invited to the Museum of Hartlepool in the town's Marina on Wednesday to make collages inspired by the sea. They are asked to take their own seashore treasures, including shells and seaweed. The events run from 10am to 11am, 11am to 12pm, 1pm to 2pm, 2pm to 3pm and 3pm to 4pm.
BLOOD DONORS: A mobile blood donor unit will be parked in the car park of Asda's Stockton store on Wednesday from 10am to noon and 1.30pm to 4pm. No appointments are necessary and new donors are welcome.
