A TEENAGER has appeared in court to deny murdering and robbing a partially-sighted great-grandmother who died after she was allegedly mugged for her £2 fish supper.
Trevor Cook, 19, appeared before Newcastle Crown Court to deny murdering and robbing 77-year-old widow Marie Watson.
She died in hospital in April this year more than a week after she was attacked while on her way home from her local chip shop in the Heaton area of the city.
Mr Cook, of Clayton Road, Jesmond, Newcastle, pleaded not guilty to robbing Mrs Watson of her handbag - which contained a fried fish, scissors, and a magnifying glass.
Mr Cook also pleaded not guilty to murdering the widow on April 13.
He was remanded in custody and will reappear at Newcastle Crown Court on November 12 for trial.
