AN entire village gathered to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee by having a "family" picture taken on the village green.
Scorton is midway through its annual feast week, arranged this year as a tribute to the Queen's 50 years on the throne. A junior soccer tournament, village cricket match and a quoits challenge were among the events held to launch the programme on Sunday. But the highlight of the opening day was a community photograph, which was arranged to record every resident of the village in the summer of 2002. The celebrations continue today, with a rounders match for girls, welly-throwing competitions and a Royal Chariot Race. The four-day event closes tomorrow with an open-air concert on the village green, including a performance by the Atlantic Soul Messengers.
