A DISABLED motorist had a lucky escape yesterday after her car crashed through a sea wall and plunged onto a walkway.
The driver, who has not been named, is thought to have been involved in a collision with another car, which led to her veering off the road at Scarborough.
The silver Vauxhall Vectra smashed through the wall protecting the south beach before dropping 20ft onto the promenade below, narrowly missing a woman working in a deckchair hire kiosk.
The driver was taken to Scarborough General Hospital.
Assistant Divisional Officer Chris Stark, of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service, said it was miraculous that no one else was injured.
The kiosk worker is thought to have suffered shock and was treated by first aiders from Scarborough Borough Council.
Mr Stark said: "The driver has some injuries, but she was conscious throughout the process of releasing her from the car. It came to rest nose-down with the rear wheels up against the wall."
