Darlington's reserves will begin their season by sending a strong team to York City this afternoon.
All but two of the starting XI have first team experience as the Quakers' second string kick-off their season at the Minstermen.
Chris Porter, Clark Keltie, Glenn Naylor and new boy Phil Hadland have all tasted the Third Division this season, and will be looking to push their claims for a first-team spot today. Adam Reed, Mark Sheeran, Richard Hodgson, David McGurk and Mark Convery will also start.
Youngster Adam Rundle will not play as he is training with Middlesbrough this week but he is not about to join the Riverside outfit.
The reserves' first home game is a week tonight against Notts County and, like last season, Quakers will play their home fixtures at Feethams on Wednesdays with 7pm kick-offs but this term sees Darlington playing in a new division.
The Avon Insurance League has scrapped their Division One and Two format in favour of East and West Divisions.
The move means Darlington's reserves will face Hartlepool United for the first time since 1999/00 when Quakers achieved promotion to Division One. The two sides will meet at Pool on September 4 and at Feethams in January.
