FLOWER SHOW: The Chester- le-Street Chrysanthemum and Dahlia Society is holding its Early Show from 2pm to 6pm on Saturday, August 31, and 10.30am to 4pm on Sunday, September 1, in Dobbies Garden Centre, at Birtley.

SURE START ACTIVITIES: Sure Start is staging a Craft 'n' Play and special music session with Finn, from 1pm on Tuesday, August 27, at Waldridge Road. SCHOOL REUNION: A reunion for pupils who left Lord Lawson School between 1994 and 1997 is being held from 7.30pm until late in the Pelaw Grange Dog Stadium. Tickets are £20 each to cover the cost room hire and a DJ. They are available from 0191-410 4968 or 078 7987 501. Any surplus will be donated to a local children's charity.
DARTS MONEY: The darts team of the Rose and Shamrock, in Birtley, held a charity night which raised more than £500 for two local children with life affecting illnesses.
LACY THINGS: A demonstration of lace making and an exhibition of lace is being held by the Beamish and Northumbria Lacemakers on Saturday and Sunday at Beamish Museum.
