A GROUP of women are proving people can achieve what they want at any age.
The women, who are between 30 and 72, are part of a painting and drawing class at the South Bank Women's Centre and are well on their way to gaining the National Certificate of Further Education (level one).
Group members have always been interested in art, but never had the time or opportunity to do so until now.
Kath O'Neil, 53, from South Bank, said: "I joined the class as it is something I always wanted to do.
"I'm so glad that I did, as it has given me confidence to go on and learn more new things. I would recommend learning to anyone, as it gives you a sense of achievement in life."
Vinnie Thomas, 72, also from South Bank, who has been attending the centre for ten years, said: "Learning is great fun. It's a way of meeting new people and it opens up other opportunities."
Judith Crompton, outreach worker from Cleveland College of Art and Design, which tutors the class, said: "The group is doing wonderfully.
"The class is held once a week for two-and-a-half hours. They have achieved a lot in such a short period of time."
