STUDENTS at Spennymoor School surpassed expectations when they collected their A level results last week.
Overall the school recorded one of its best set of results, with a 100 per cent pass rate in five subjects at AS level and ten A level subjects.
Topping the bill was 18 year-old David Walker, of Middlestone Moor, who landed straight As and a place at Warwick University to read management sciences.
Fellow high-fliers included Kate Smalley, who gained three A grades, and Jemimah Gardner, with two As and a D.
Headteacher Ken Hall said: "It is a really wonderful achievement, our students have performed with great credit and most have reached or surpassed our expectations. As usual the ones who have worked hard have gained the results they deserve and all the staff are thrilled for them.
"It is particularly nice to see students like David secure places in top universities and Jemimah who'll be the first in her family to go to university."
