FARMERS are being urged to find out how letting nature take its course can be good for the bank balance.
Experts from the Farming and Wildlife Advisory Group (FWAG) will lead a coastal farm walk at White Lea Farm, Easington Colliery, tonight at 6pm.
The farm was recently bought by the National Trust and has applied for a Countryside Stewardship Scheme this year.
The scheme, run by the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), offers landowners cash incentives for creating a range of wildlife havens.
Topics covered during the farm walk will include pasture management, grazing regimes and scrub management on a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).
Walkers will also look at wildflower meadow management, and recreating grassland on arable land.
The tour will be followed by a discussion and refreshments.
Anyone interested is welcome to turn up on the night. For further details, contact FWAG on 01833 630880.
