TOP performing companies in the North-East are in danger of missing out on the Queen's Awards for Enterprise 2003 - unless they send in their applications soon.
Companies have until October 31 to return their applications but, as yet, none of the region's firms has submitted applications for the awards.
David Slater, director of competitiveness and Europe at the Government Office for the North-East, said: "The region did really well in this year's awards, with seven winners - our best performance for four years. It was a tremendous achievement by some of our most enterprising companies, particularly as we had winners in all three categories of the awards - international trade, innovation and sustainable development.
"It was proof, if it were needed, that the North-East has companies that are able to win these awards."
Anyone wishing to apply for the awards is asked to contact 0870 5134486 or visit www.queensawards.org.uk for an entry pack.
