A COLLEGE has strengthened its team with the appointment of an assistant principal.
Alan Kersh is joining Bishop Auckland College as assistant principal and director of corporate development and partnerships.
He transfers to the area from North Lindsey College, in Scunthorpe, where he was the curriculum and learning director.
Mr Kersh, who is married with two children, used to work in industry, but has 15 years experience in further education.
He said: "North Lindsey College has a similar socio-economic make-up to Bishop Auckland College and it also has a big rural catchment area.
"Over the past 40 years the college has successfully helped many local communities and I hope to continue expanding that provision.
"I want to develop my role and help secure a positive future for the college, a future that gives increased opportunities for the people of Bishop Auckland and the surrounding areas.''
Joanna Tait, the principal and chief executive of Bishop Auckland College, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Alan to the team and very much look forward to the positive impact he will have with regards to external funding opportunities.''
