THE annual markets fair is taking place in Stockton High Street on Saturday.
Market traders will be getting into the spirit of things by wearing fancy dress.
Officers from Stockton Borough Council will be dressed as children's characters such as Noddy and Policeman Plod. The fair starts at 10am.
The mayor of Stockton, Councillor Jean O'Donnell, along with council members and members of the Markets Forum, will be walking through the market to judge the best fancy dress costume.
The winner will receive the Brian Hodgson Trophy and £200, and there will also be £100 and £50 for second and third prize respectively.
A whole host of activities will also take place. On stage outside the town hall at 11am and 2pm will be Principul, with dancers PSD providing music and movement.
Punch and Judy will be battling it out in traditional manner and there will also be a fun fair.
