COMMUNITY groups have shared in a cash windfall of more than £3,000.
Harrogate Borough Council has awarded £450 to the angling section of the youth club in Starbeck to pay for four sets of equipment. Other grants have been made to voluntary groups from bowlers to gardeners.
Leisure spokesperson, Councillor Pat Marsh, said: "I am particularly pleased with this award as these youngsters are very enthusiastic community workers themselves.
"This new equipment will help support them for a full season of angling events, including the annual all-night charity match to raise funds for the Harrogate hospital.
"Starbeck residents need only ask themselves whether they have an idea for a local community project and, if they need money to turn their ideas into reality, we want to hear from them."
