A PILOT scheme has been launched by Redcar and Cleveland Council to encourage residents to recycle their garden and green waste.
The public are being encouraged to take the waste to a skip at the council's civic amenity site at Wilton Lane, Dunsdale, near Guisborough from Bank Holiday Monday.
Items that can be put in the skip include grass cuttings, prunings and cuttings, flowers, tea bags and coffee grounds.
The waste will be taken to Scugdale Farm, Guisborough to begin the process to turn it into compost.
The pilot scheme, a partnership between the council, Premier Waste Management who manage the civic amenity site, and A and E Thompson, the local farm facilitator, will be evaluated at its conclusion on October 31.
The council is also planning to find a location to introduce a kerbside collection composting scheme to start next Easter.
