SURE START - the Government backed children's health initiative - has announced plans to build a new office in Darlington.
The building, next to Darlington Railway Museum, will be a purpose-built complex and will include a nursery, information centre and meeting rooms.
With up to 15 office staff expected to occupy the building, there will also be car parking spaces for ten to 15 people.
The Sure Start scheme aims to improve the health and well-being of families and children before and after birth.
Darlington's branch has said its priorities include better play opportunities for families and children under three and better access to services.
