DARLINGTON and District Riding Club will be represented at the national riding club championships after the senior open show jumping team qualified at Beamish last month.
Club chairman Caron Stokell stepped in at the last minute to replace Liz Simpson, who was unable to ride on the day. She rode Angela Peacock's intermediate eventer Romulus II as Angela was riding her coloured horse, Sam.
The other team members were secretary Sara Metcalfe on Vader and Helen Foulds on Maurice Shields' horse Kings Halt II. The team went through on double clears.
The club's novice team were the only team to jump double clears, but failed to qualify due to time penalties.
Caron Stokell rode her own horse in that team, standing in for treasurer Melanie Schofield. The rest of the team comprised Liz Stevenson, Gill Pailor and Rowena Burridge.
The national championships take place at Lincoln Showground on Saturday, September 14. Anyone who would like to sponsor the team can contact Sara Metcalfe on 01325 718792.
