Bass North Cleveland League: Skelton Castle were dismissed for only 86 when they visited Dormans and their top scorer was Urwin who carried his bat for 25.
Craig Dale had a good day with the ball for Dormans taking five wickets for 20 runs in nine overs and Sadja Hussein returned three for 13 from 7.1 overs. Replying Dormans secured the necessary runs from 21.1 overs losing one wicket as Mark Grosvenor carried his bat for 44 which included five boundaries. Hussein also starred with the bat partnering Grosvenor's unbroken second wicket partnership as he contributed 23.
Loftus had six wickets in hand when they entertained Norton who they dismissed for 88 runs in 34.2 overs. Rob Whitwell claimed five wickets for 16 runs in 8.2 overs and Chris Barritt had two for 17 from the five overs he sent down.
When Loftus went into bat they lost and early wicket before Sanderson scored 19 and Ian Dixon 22 while for Norton, David Skirving took two of the four wickets to fall for 22 runs in five overs.
Despite restricting Normanby Parklands to 79 Paragonians lost nine wickets before winning. At one stage Paragonians were 41 for the loss of one wicket but then conceded five wickets while just 17 runs were added and at 58 for six the result could have gone either way. Paul Ross played a valuable innings of 23 for Paragonians hitting one six and two boundaries while Geoff Walker almost clinched victory for Parklands when he took six wickets for a meagre 17 runs in 8.3 overs.
When they made first use of the wicket Normanby Parklands struggled against the vie-man Paragonians attack in which Peter Rhoden and Burton claimed two wickets apiece. Shaoib top scored with 36 hitting a couple of sixes for Parklands.
Jack Hatfields made the respectable total of 154 for six but still lost to Staithes who won when they conceded just two wickets. Theaker opened the Staithes reply scoring 27 and his first wicket partner Horne added 40 before Allen carried his bat for 47 out of a total of 155 for two.
Spence made the top score of the day, 68 and Tweedy scored 38 of the home side's total while for Staithes Thornton was the leading wicket taker with three for 14.
Powell captured six wickets for 13 runs and Swain four for 26 when Hinderwell bowled out The Merlin for 61. Even so, Hinderwell had to work hard for victory and they lost eight wickets before achiving a winning result. Brown, with four 20 and Mallon who three wickets cost 15 runs, almost snatched victory for The Merlin.
Boosbeck were all out for 128 in their home game with Ormesby Hall. Weatherhead opened the innings scoring 30 before Lorraines contributed 61 while for Ormesby Hall Pennington took three for 23 and Qayyun each took three wickets.
When they went into bat Ormesby Hall lost the early wicket of Matthewman but Thorpe added 24 and Qayyun top scored with 61 as the visitors reached the winning margin for the loss of seven wickets. Ward whose four wickets cost 28 runs and Daynes with three for 43 were both in good form with the ball for Boosbeck.
In division two Moorsholm had 42 runs in hand of Dormanstown. Batting first the home side reached 120 all out in 37.1 overs and Keith Harding struck four boundaries in 44 before being run out. Hooper added 25 and for Dormanstown Charlie Hatch had three wickets for 12 runs in 8.1 overs, four of which were maidens and Andrew Dowson took three for 27 in nine overs.
When they batted Dormanstown could only make 78 all out as Stuart Ward claimed five wickets for 21 runs in 12 overs and Neil Allison captured three wickets for 19 runs from the 8.1 overs he sent down.
Ormesby Hall ended on 115 for six before losing by nine wickets to New Marske. C Lightwing opened with 47 and R Lightwing carried his bat for 35 in partnership with Payne who ended with 29 not out for New Marske.
Hartley opened for Ormesby Hall and scored 30 out of a total of 115 for six with four of the wickets falling to Hailstone for just 23 runs.
Normanby Parklands made the lowest score of the day, just 39, when they were bowled out by Brotton who went on to win by eight wickets. M Broughton captured six wickets for ten runs and N Broughton had three for ten in the Brotton attack.
Langbaurgh League
Bottom of the table Ingleby Greenhow won for only the second time, but they did so in style defeating Scruton by 146 runs.
Michael Fawcett led the way crashing six sixes and nine boundaries in 109 before he was run out and Thompson contributed 53 with a couple of sixes and five fours as Ingleby Greenhow posted 216 for five from just 40 overs.
They then reduced Scruton to 70 all out in 22 overs as Vinny Jones claimed seven wickets for only 17 runs in 11, three of which were maidens.
Swainby were dismissed for 57 in 18.1 overs by Kirby Sigston for whom 17-year-old Robin Cowton returned the outstanding figures of seven for 24 in nine overs. Kevin Clarkson gave admirable support in the attack and his 9.1 overs spell earned three wickets at a cost of 32 runs.
Replying Kirby Sigston won in 11 overs and lost one wicket. John Thompson and Sid Day both carried their bats for the identical score of 23.
Stafford Place were another side who struggled for runs when they met Broughton and Kirby. The home side were all out for 66 as David Bladen captured eight wickets for a mere 23 runs in 10.2 overs and Andrew Smith took two for 36 from ten overs.
Broughton and Kirby were patient in their reply and batted 19 overs before securing the necessary runs for the loss of one wicket. Neil Parkin opened the innings and was still there at the end unbeaten on 26 having hit a couple of boundaries. Keith Robinson finished with 37 not out and he stroked one six and five fours.
Crathorne managed only 53 runs in 28.2 overs at home to East Harlsey for whom John Grainge took seven wickets for a miserly 11 runs in 14.2 overs, nine of which were maidens. Davie Willey captured the other three wickets at a cost of 36 runs in 14 overs.
Responding East Harlsey also struggled for runs and lost seven wickets before winning after occupying the wicket for 17.2 overs. Mick Blench almost pulled the game out of the fire for Crathorne taking five wickets for 13 runs in 8.2 overs and Howard Leng had two for 36 in nine overs.
Maltby defeated Hutton Rudby by 33 runs. Batting first the visitors ended on 136 for nine which included 23 by Close, 22 from Francis and 26 by Callan before Barber added 24. Jung returned three for 15 and Coombes, Reed and Jones all claimed a couple of wickets in the Hutton Rudby attack.
When they went into bat Hutton Rudby were given a good send off by Green (21) and his opening partner Pattison who made the game's top score of 52. Pugh, who went in at number three, contributed 22, but thereafter runs were at a premium and the innings stuttered to 103 for nine as Barber returned four for 41 and Hornsby two for 11.
Kildale defeated Thimbleby by seven wickets. When Thimbleby made first use of the wicket they ended on 105 for nine which included 21 not out by Cleary. Dan Doughty claimed four wickets for 37 runs and Dave Doughty returned three for 35 for Kildale, who lost three wickets in their response. Opening batsman Pearson scored 26, Blackett carried his bat for 35 and Dan Doughty was undefeated on 25 when the winning run was achieved.
