YOUNG people from a summer youth project took part in a ten-mile sponsored walk on Saturday to help two animal sanctuaries.
The 25 youngsters, who were paired off with a dog, walked a circular route from Loftus Youth Centre in aid of the Hope Animal Sanctuary at Loftus and the Saltburn Animal Rescue Association. They hope to have raised more than £400.
The teenagers have been involved in a 16 summer activities programme, organised by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's project development worker Kate Hillyard.
The group has been attending weekly sessions at the youth centre, working on team-building and leadership skills, which will come to a successful conclusion with a presentation night at Eston City Learning Centre on September 2.
