West Auckland Earl of Warwick who were last seasons champions, but are now known as West Auckland Queens Head, were held in their opening fixture of the new season. Opponents Roddymoor were returning to the league after a two year absence and they held the Queens to a goalless draw. Queens had most chances although the visitors missed two in the first half.
Bishop Rugby Club took the lead at Willington but goals from Peter Franks and Wayne Fleming turned the game round for the home side before half time. Franks and Fleming were on target again and Tommy Parkin, Anthony Stewart and an own goal gave Willington WMC a 7-1 win.
Graham Walker gave Wearhead United the lead at home to White Swan but Darren Deuchars equalised before half time. Walker restored the Wearhead advantage and a goal from Chris Fairless 15 minutes from time ensured three points for Wearhead.
Byers Green St Peters fielded a totally new side for the visit of Stanhope Town, who were flattered by a 3-0 victory. Rob O'Dell, Simon Pugh and Jonathan Lee scored for Stanhope, who led 1-0 at half time.
