Old Shildon's stay in the top spot was very short-lived when they visited Fishburn A and went down by the odd point.
Fishburn made a great start with wins from Charlie Hirst, Brian Quest and John Carter. They looked to be moving further ahead when Wayne Oliver put in a 43 break but Shildon's Billy Goggins fought back to take the frame and Michael Pratt followed up to take the final frame. This put Fishburn one point clear of Old Shildon but they have now to share the lead with Wheatley Hill A.
Wheatley Hill A entertained Ferryhill and went through to a whitewash victory with wins from Ronnie Peacock, Dean Bryden, Dave Walker, John Worthington and Alan Hall.
Brandon moved a point behind Old Shildon after they took the first three frames at home to Spennymoor A. Kevin Sample set Brandon off in style with a 46 break and was followed with home wins from David Jackson and Brian Graham. The Moors came back to take the last two points through Paul Biddle and Paul Atkinson.
Shotton Palms moved up to share the fourth place with Brandon after they only dropped one point on their visit to Witton Gilbert. The Palms had points from Barry Hall, Jimmy Evans, John Armstrong and Dave Swindle with Paul Johnson taking Witton's lone point.
In the First Division relegation battle, Willington travelled to Newton Aycliffe and pulled off a maximum victory with wins from Gordon Parkin, Arthur Goldsborough, Stan Bennett, Jeremy Martin and Tom Parkin. This leaves Willington two points clear of their hosts with Ferryhill at the bottom a point behind Newton Aycliffe.
In the top of the table clash in the Second Division, Crook Belle Vue went two up on their visiting challengers with wins from Ken Rider and John Warriner. However the visitors came back to draw level with wins from Peter McGowan and John Bower. In the decider, Sherburn's Adrian Twist beat Gordon Sample to move just one point behind the leaders.
Newhouse increased the pressure on both Crook and Sherburn when they moved into third place, just a point behind Sherburn, after they whitewashed their hosts at Durham City. The Newhouse points came from Ian Dinsdale, Steve Mountain with a 35 clearance, Jimmy Hassen, John Maddox and Kevin Allison.
Langley Park's inconsistency continued when they only collected one point from their visit to Meadowfield. The home side had wins from Norman Smith, Stephen Hughes, John Jackson and Robert Stout, whilst Kevin Keers was the only visiting scorer. This defeat moved Langley Park two points behind Newhouse.
Fishburn B sunk further into relegation trouble in the Second Division after they only took one point from their visit to Stanley Central. Alan Wilson took Fishburn's point, whilst Jim Dufton, Harold Grimes, Frank Foster and Walter Cornell won for the Central.
The relegation pattern in the Second Division was made more complex after Wheatley Hill B only dropped one point on their visit to Spennymoor B, who had Alan Clark as their only winner. The Hill's winners were Ken Johnson, Terry Ellison, Steve Cave and Jock Frost. This result puts Stanley Central, Spennymoor B and Wheatley Hill B all equal just two points clear of Durham City, who are four ahead of Fishburn B.
Wingate moved six points clear in the Third Division after they only dropped one point at Tow Law, who had Heppell Hodgson as their only winner. The Wingate winners were John Bourne, Dave Hammond, Paul Harrison and Geoff Howe.
Crowtrees dropped two valuable points when they visited Leeholme A and only came through to win in the decider. Lawrence Jones put the home side ahead with Sean Johnston levelling. Anthony Forster restored the home lead only to see Keith McLauchland level. In the decider Crowtree's Sonny Hann beat Ian North.
New Durham only took the first and last frames against the visiting Coundon to lose their third place in the Third Division to their visitors. Thomas Cairns and Wilf Coulthard took points for New Durham, whilst Ross Hardacre, John Paul Wringe and Frank Nicholson won for Coundon.
Sacriston only dropped one point to the visiting Leeholme B, who had Mark Brown as their only winner. The home winners were Willy Nixon, Kevin Laing, Gary Barton and Dale Evans.
