THE popular Malton Racing Association open stables event, cancelled last year because of the foot-and-mouth outbreak, returns on Sunday.
The famous racing town flings open its doors to display its equine talent to visitors, with Tim and Mick Easterby, Richard Fahey, Malcolm Jefferson, Peter Beaumont and Jimmy FitzGerald among the trainers taking part.
More than 500 horses in training at 20 different stables will be on show, as well as three stars of yesteryear in Desert Orchid, Jodami and Uncle Ernie.
The stables, situated in and around Malton and Norton, will be open from 9am to 1pm. A free park and ride bus system will be in operation.
Racing enthusiasts can then travel on to Beverley races, where the first race starts at 2.10. Stable visitors will qualify for a £2 entry concession into the Tattersalls enclosure at Beverley.
Proceeds from the open event, principally sponsored by John Smith's Ltd and the Weatherbys Group, will again be distributed to local and racing charities.
Admission is £5 for adults, £1 for under 16s and free for under fives
