AN 84-year-old woman had to be taken to hospital after confronting an intruder in her home.
Police are appealing for information to the incident, which took place in Huntingdon Green, Stockton on Wednesday night.
The woman was in her lounge at 8.10pm when she heard a noise. When she went to investigate she found a young man in her hallway who had got in through an insecure back door.
She tried to push him out of the door and in doing so cut her forehead on it.
The man made off empty handed and the woman was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees for observation.
The man is in his early 20s, white, stockily built with dark hair. He was wearing a dark jacket with possibly a dark shirt underneath and dark trousers.
