DANBY Lodge, the North York Moors National Park's visitor centre set in a former shooting lodge, may be about to have an overhaul.
The park's head of information, Mike Pratt, has told Danby group parish council that its existing exhibitions need replacing.
"It's looking tired and the whole centre needs revamping," he said.
Mr Pratt said the views of local people were being sought on what should be included in the new-look centre, which was set up 26 years ago.
Mr Pratt said "The centre is very much part of Danby and the Esk Valley community and we want local people to benefit from it."
Ideas include more use of the expansive grounds of the Wykeham Estate-owned lodge and the adjoining River Esk. Interpreting life on the moors, including farming, wildlife and management of the heather moorland, are possible ideas, said Mr Pratt.
Residents in the Esk Valley could use the centre for meetings and a computer terminal could be set up.
