TRAIN passengers are being warned of disruption on the East Coast Mainline this weekend as Railtrack carries out engineering work.
The north and southbound tracks between Tuxford and Retford, in Nottinghamshire, will be closed between noon on Saturday until 6am on Monday, while track renewal work is carried out.
GNER services between Doncaster and Newark will be replaced by a coach service, which is expected to add about an hour to journeys between the North-East and London.
A Railtrack spokesman said: "The work has been specifically programmed to ensure peak travel periods are largely unaffected.
"Throughout the work we will be doing our utmost to ensure and disruption to passengers or those living beside the railway is kept to a minimum. We apologise for any inconvenience our work may cause."
Customers are advised to check their travel arrangements with National Rail Enquiries on 08457 484950, or with individual operators before making their journey, for details of service alterations and alternative transport.
