ROADWORKS which have brought chaos to Richmond's roads over the past few weeks have been removed in time for the bank holiday.
Negotiations with Transco have secured an agreement which has seen the temporary lights at the foot of Gallowgate switched off, with permanent signals once again controlling the flow of traffic.
As long as there are no complications with the gas supply, the road will remain clear for the next fortnight.
"At least we can look forward to an end to the bottleneck," said town manager Colin Grant. "Once again, Richmond can return to being the gateway to the Dales - at least for the next couple of weeks.''
