PEOPLE with learning difficulties had the chance to shine on stage, thanks to a new summer school.
An audience of parents and carers gathered in Stanley, County Durham, for a special performance of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
The cast and crew, all people with learning difficulties, put together the show while taking part in the Moveable Feast Arts project, based in South Moor, Stanley.
Organiser Lawraine Hails said: "We are hoping it will be the start of many.
"Kids get the opportunity to do lots of fun things during the holidays, but there is not a lot for older people with learning disabilities.
"Many are not able to see their friends, because they cannot get on the bus and travel by themselves," she said.
"By coming here, they are able to see some of their schoolmates and do something different and exciting."
The project is already reaping benefits.
"It has really built up their confidence," said Mrs Hails.
"It is amazing how just giving someone an opportunity can make such a difference."
