SPORTING legend and keen fundraiser Ian Botham is swapping his bat for a set of clubs and pitching in to support this year's Charity Pro-Am Golf Tournament.
Two charities, Hartlepool District Hospice and tfm's Make a Child Smile, are "on par" to receive thousands of pounds from the event, which tees off at 8am on Wednesday at the Wynyard Golf Club.
Businesses from across the region have entered teams for the prestigious tournament.
Last year, £8,000 was raised for the Friends of Gleneagles. Based in Middlesbrough, the charity provides respite care for children with disabilities.
