TWO decaying outbuildings which once formed part of a maternity hospital are to be demolished.
The buildings to the rear of The Mount, in Yafforth Road, Northallerton, were previously used by the hospital.
FT Construction group has submitted plans to Hambleton District Council for the bulldozing of the buildings. The authority's planners are expected to approve the scheme when they meet in Northallerton on Thursday.
The parish council has objected to the scheme, saying there has been no assessment of the historic or architectural status of the buildings. No proposals for the future of the site have been put forward.
Planning officer Diane Baines, who is dealing with the application, said: "The structures to be removed are not considered to be of particular historic or architectural merit.
"The outbuildings to the north-west have an attractive appearance, but their demolition is not considered to undermine the historic value or adversely affect the setting of the main building.
