ONE of the world's most powerful helicopters is among the star turns of this year's Yorkshire Air Show.
Thousands of people have been descending on Elvington, near York, for the huge celebration of all matters to do with aviation.
And among the star turns at the show is one of the most powerful helicopters in the world, the devastating Apache.
The fearsome machine was loaned to the organisers by the Dutch army and its weaponry includes a Gatling gun that is capable of tearing a modern tank to pieces.
But the Royal Air Force is also well represented, with the Jaguar strike aircraft, the Tornado F3 fighter and the Nimrod submarine hunter among the many aircraft on display.
No airshow is complete without a tribute to the past and the Battle of Britain memorial flight is also taking part with their spectacular flypast. Yesterday, more than 100 veterans from Bomber Command were among those welcomed to the show
The show continues today and entry is £12 for adults, £6 for children under 12, £10 for OAPs and £32 for families at the gate. The gates open at 8.30am and the show ends at 4.30pm
