Several of a party of eight late night revellers trapped in a lift, were given first aid by firefighters called to the rescue. One of the group in the lift - which stuck below the ground floor of Melsonby Court, Billingham - was semi-conscious and was given oxygen.
Socks theft: Teesside police are looking for burglars who stole a large number of gents' socks from Billingham shop Your More Store. Cleveland Police are urging residents to report any door to door approaches by thieves selling cheap socks.

Flying high: A kite festival is to be held on the Hartlepool Headland next weekend. Before kites of all shapes and sizes take to the air on Sunday September 1, there will be free workshops at the Bell Vue community centre and Osborne Road centre for children in the New Deal for Communities area, on Thursday, and in the Borough Hall on Friday for youngsters living in the North Hartlepool area.
