A TRIO of Morris dancing troupes put on a colourful display yesterday as part of a special weekend.
To mark the end of a weekend of dance across the region, the local Monkseaton Morrismen (pictured) and their guests La Sabotee Sancerroise from France and the Westminster Morrismen converged on Beamish museum for performances. They staged shows throughout the day at the museum's entrance, in the colliery village school yard, on the station platform and in the town park bandstand. As a grand finale, all the dancers, numbering about 60, came together for a joint display. Among the styles they performed were North-East rapper sword dances, Northumbria country dances, Cotswold Morris dances and French country dancing.
