VISITORS enjoying a day out at one of North Yorkshire's great ancient monuments had an added bonus over the Bank Holiday weekend.
They were given an extra insight into the long history of Whitby Abbey by an Edwardian re-enactment group. Visitors were met by suffragette Amelia Utterthwaite, played by actress Vic Bryson, and GP friend Dr Henry Appleby - alias actor Chris Bailey - who guided them around the ancient ruins, filling them in on its colourful history.
