FOLLOWING a crackdown on football troublemakers police said last night that no arrests had been made during yesterday's Third Division fixture between Hartlepool and Hull.
Earlier in the week, senior officers warned that strong action would be taken against anyone causing problems at the game.
Officers were out in force to ensure the game was enjoyed by genuine fans and not marred by the minority who set out to cause trouble.
Superintendent Dave Horner, head of operations in Hartlepool, said: "The match went very well and I am pleased to say there were no arrests, which is a pat on the back for Hartlepool fans.
"I firmly believe the police presence put paid to any potential disorder and we are very pleased with the way the operation went."
It was agreed to have strong police presence at the match after the Hartlepool's season began with problems in the match at Carlisle. Several arrests were made for disorder and drunkenness, with follow-up arrests carried out in Hartlepool.
