LIVE music will entertain shoppers in Spennymoor on Saturday when local pop and rock bands perform in the market place.
The seven-hour event is part of a Sedgefield Borough Council initiative to promote the town and bring more people into its commercial centre.
Harmony girl band Sweet Magenta opens the programme at 11am. Soft rock group Retaxus follows at 12.45pm, with the all-girl band Elite at 2.15pm, rock guitarists Ortonomy at 3.45pm and rock and rollers Tennessee Hollow at 5.15pm.
Spennymoor Learning Centre is holding a series of music events for children throughout the day.
Bill Waters, cabinet member for regeneration, said: "The music day is part of a whole host of family events planned throughout the borough this year.
"We hope this event will attract shoppers into the town centre during the day and provide entertainment for all musical tastes."
