A BID by Newcastle and Gateshead to become European Capital Culture 2008 was given a boost with the visit of two Government ministers yesterday.
Arts Minister Baroness Tessa Blackstone visited a number of attractions, including the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and the Sage Music Centre, which is in the process of being built.
Meanwhile, Housing Minister Tony McNulty met residents and business leaders at the West End regeneration area.
