A TALENTED teenager is facing the tough choice of following his father into professional golf or emulating his grandfather's success in football.
David Hartley is only 15-years-old, but already he looks set for a glittering career in sport. But at the moment the Chester-le-Street youngster's biggest hurdle is considering which sport to devote himself to.
David, whose father is the golf professional Alan Hartley, recently won the Northumberland Under-16s County Championships and with a handicap of four, a career as a professional golfer is a realistic option.
But like his grandfather, who was goalkeeper for Manchester City, he is equally as talented on the football pitch.
He has played in Newcastle United's football academy since the age of eight and after being released from the academy was immediately signed up by Hartlepool United FC, as goalkeeper for its under-16s team.
David recently demonstrated his goal-keeping skills at a world football tournament in America, where he helped his team win the final against an American team by saving a penalty in extra time.
David manages to fit in all his training between his GCSE studies at Hermitage Comprehensive in Chester-le-Street.
