A COMMUNITY group has raised £10,000 for charity in the past 12 months.
The Rotary Club of Redcar raised the cash through a number of fundraising events, including a trolley dash and Christmas raffle, and has donated to a number of local and national charities, including £1,000 to Cancer Relief. The Rotarians, who have recently been on a trip to HM Bark Endeavour at Whitby, and held a treasure hunt around Redcar, welcome new members. RAID ARRESTS: A 34-year-old man has been arrested for supplying drugs, and a 23-year-old woman has been cautioned for possession of cannabis following continuing Dealer a Day raids across Middlesbrough. Cocaine and cannabis were seized and a total of £6,000 cash recovered.
HANDS ON: Visitors to Newham Grange Leisure Farm, near Middlesbrough, can have a go at hand-milking a pedigree Jersey cow today. Traditional milking methods will be demonstrated by farm stocksman Kev Holtby.
HOME IS: A book on people's impressions of home is being produced by the Articulate Programme, run by Cleveland Arts and funded by the Health Action Zone Innovations Fund and the Northern Rock Foundation. It is a collection of writing by people with different impressions of their homes.
NOVEL APPROACH: More than 600 children took part in a Middlesbrough libraries summer reading challenge aimed at children aged five to 11. Those taking part collected a sticker pack for each book read and were rewarded with pencils, bookmarks and prizes.
GREEN ROADSHOW: A green roadshow is being held in Hartlepool next weekend in a bid to teach families more about helping the environment. A circus, activities, displays and exhibitions will form part of the Green Roadshow taking place on the Town Moor on the Headland on Saturday and Sunday, from 11am to 5pm. The roadshow has been organised by the Headland Environmental Partnership.
BADMINTON CLUB: Redcar Social Badminton Club will open its doors to new members ahead of the season. The club's season starts on Monday, September 9, and members meet during school term time at Rye Hills School from 7pm to 9pm in the sports hall. Call Graham on (01642) 471853 for details.

MP'S SURGERIES: Dr Ashok Kumar, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, will hold two advice surgery sessions on Tuesday.
