Duathlon
THE final round of the national series of duathlon events takes place in Stokesley for the first time this year.
The event, sponsored and sanctioned by the British Triathlon Association, will start and finish on and around The Plain, where all the competitors will also be registered.
The Stokesley duathlon will consist of a six-mile run, 23-mile cycle ride and a final three-mile run over mainly quiet roads in the Stokesley area on Sunday, September 29, starting at 10am.
There were 149 entrants at this stage last year and more are expected to take part this year.
During the day, there will be a number of road closures in the town centre, from the rear of The Plain down to Bridge Road and at the back of the town hall.
The Plain will be unavailable for general parking during the competition and the organisers are intending to contact in advance any residents who might be affected.
The entry fee for each competitor will be £15, or £20 on the day. Cycles must be roadworthy and cycle helmets must be worn.
Full information, details of accommodation and camp sites and entry forms can be obtained from Stokesley Duathlon, 1 Gold Crest, Guisborough, TS14 8PJ.
A 9x6ins sae should be enclosed and all postal entries must be returned by September 19.
