Crook Olde Horse Shoe maintained their lead at the top following a three points win in a tricky home match against Bishop Auckland Football Club.
The Shoe had two singles points from Gavin Witton and Cliff Owen with Steve Hunter and Stephen Liddle adding one each. The footballers replied with two points from Tony Lambert and one each from Lee Taylor and Craig Lumley. The Shoe then added the doubles with a win from Dave Walker and Cliff Owen with the captain's games being shared between Gavin Witton and Lee Taylor.
Spennymoor Weardale pulled off a good win when they beat their hosts at Bishop Auckland Snooker Club A. The home side had two singles points from Colin Douthwaite and one from Kevin Douthwaite. The visitors moved into the lead with two singles points for Steve Marshall, Lou Cooper and Shane Casen with Steve Sinclair adding one. The Weardale increased their lead when Lou Copper and Steve Marshall won the doubles but the home side recovered when Kevin Douthwaite beat Shane Casen in both captain's games.
Crook Olde Horse Shoe lead the table by three points from Crook Coach and Horses, who have played an extra match on all the leading teams. Bishop Auckland Snooker B are nine points behind the Coach but have a 14 points advantage over Tow Law Station and Bishop Auckland King's Head. Spennymoor Ashtree are four matches behind but only trail the Coach and Horses by 36 points.
There is a League meeting at Bishop Auckland King's Head on Tuesday, 3 September at 8.00p.m. when all entries for the League's singles and doubles championships should be handed in. All teams must be represented.
