US rock band the Foo Fighters, who sell albums by the million, have been booked to appear at the Telewest Arena, Newcastle, on November 17.
Band leader Dave Grohl is bringing the current line-up of guitarist Chris Shiflett, bassist Nate Mendel and drummer Taylor Hawkins on a four-date British tour.
The concert co-incides with the release of the band's new album 1x1 (One by One), at the end of October.
Brainchild of former Nirvana drummer Grohl, Foo Fighters' debut single This Is A Call became a huge US hit in 1995 and reached No 5 in the UK charts. Their self-titled debut album went platinum in the US.
The band is now firmly established in the singles charts and on the festival tour circuit.
Telewest Arena's Marketing Director Paul Tappenden said: "We have recently received a large number of inquiries regarding the Foo Fighters appearing at the Arena, so we are of course delighted to announce that we will be included within their UK tour later this year."
Tickets are £18.50 and can be booked from tomorrow by ringing 0870 707 8000 or using the arena's website: www.telewestarena.co.uk
* Solo singer Sinead O'Connor will be performing at York's Barbican Centre on November 8 as part of an exclusive UK tour.
Although it has been two years since O'Connor's Faith and Courage album, she is about to return via a trio of releases. The singer can be heard on new albums from Massive Attack, Moby and Conjure One.
Tickets, priced £18.50, can be purchased from the box office, on (01904) 656688.
