THE hills of Wensleydale will be alive to the sound of brass band music next weekend.
The Hardraw Scar brass band contest will return to the grounds of the Green Dragon Inn, at Hardraw, near Hawes.
First held in 1881, the contest is reputedly the second oldest in the country, only being surpassed by the British Open Championships.
This year's event starts at 10.30am on Sunday, September 8, in the traditional stone bandstand within the natural amphitheatre formed by Hardraw Scar.
The organisers have warned that only limited seating is available, so visitors should bring their own seats where possible. Car parking is available nearby
