A MOTHER and her two children were airlifted to hospital after becoming stranded on the North Yorkshire coast at high tide.
The family were taken to hospital for check-ups by a rescue helicopter from RAF Leckonfield after being found on land south of Scarborough.
The alarm was raised by the woman's husband when his family, from the Mansfield area, on holiday in the town, did not return from a walk.
The mother and her 12 and 13-year-old sons had left in T-shirts and shorts at about 2pm but had not returned home at 9.30pm.
They were found about half an hour later in the dark.
