FOUR youths have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man who tried to stop thieves taking his car.
Glynn Ellis, of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire, died on Tuesday after he was confronted by a gang of people who attempted to steal his Ford Mondeo from outside his brother's home in the Salford Quays area of Manchester.
The 46-year-old was making his way home after watching Manchester United's Champions League qualifier when the incident occurred at about 10.30pm.
Yesterday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed that four males, aged 15, 17, 19 and 20 had been arrested and were being interviewed.
A post-mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist showed Mr Ellis had died of "severe traumatic head injuries".
The bachelor was a surveyor with Tarmac Northern and a season ticket holder at Old Trafford.
