THE Teesdale village of Cotherstone enjoyed one of its biggest-ever annual horticultural shows at the weekend.
About 500 exhibits were entered into the show held in the village hall on Saturday - that is more than two per household.
The event's assistant secretary Carol Hunter said: "It was a really wonderful show, we had lots of stunning entries. It was evident villagers had made a real effort.
"It is a very well supported event and most of the flowers, vegetables and cakes were auctioned at the end of the day to raise money for the hall."
Mother and daughter double-act Lyn and Amy Metcalfe both landed prizes in the competition.
Mrs Metcalfe won the ladies' cup for home produce and her ten-year-old daughter, Amy, gained the most points in the children's section.
Michael Hedley landed several awards, including first prizes in the pot and trench leek sections and most points in the flower section. Roy Siswick won most points in the vegetable section and best flower display in show with a single rose.
The overall home produce award went to Barbara Lucas, Richard Hunter won the sweet pea class and Dreda Forster presented the best flower display.
