PEOPLE turned out in force to watch the carnival parade that kicked off Peterlee's 30th annual show.
The event, sponsored by mobile phone firm Orange, was hailed as the biggest and best yet and was extended to include music on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
The parade made its way from Peterlee Leisure Centre to the Helford Road showfield, and included floats from Orange, Walkers Snackfoods, Pirate Pete's Radio, Northern Training Trust, the Methodist Church and Peterlee Youth Football Club.
The procession was accompanied by jazz and brass bands, and street entertainers.
Show attractions included arts, crafts and horticultural marquees, a pet show, dog show, quad bike events, and whippet racing.
There were also displays by the First Dragoons Cavalry and Artillery, the Halsband birds of prey display team, West Lancashire Dog Display Team, the Kilimanjaro Troupe and the Motorcycle Madmen.
