Darlington deserter Faustino Asprilla has declared he would still like to play for the club - but not at the moment, and not on the terms offered to him.
The Columbian was quoted over the weekend saying he would play for Darlington in the future and cited George Reynolds' financial offer as the reason for not signing.
Although unable to explain why he fled the region so abruptly, Asprilla did claim he had seriously intended to sign for the Quakers until a late change of plan.
"I am very sorry," he said. "I travelled 20,000 miles to play for Darlington. I would still like to play for them in the future.
"We never agreed on a deal. What Darlington offered me was very good, but it wasn't enough to live on here."
Meanwhile, Darlington's Friday night date with Wrexham is in danger of being postponed because of international call-ups.
Quakers left-back Ryan Valentine will be involved in the Welsh Under-21 match while the visitors have two players - Paul Whitfield and Shaun Pejic - in the same squad.
To stand a chance of having a game postponed, either club must have at least three players called up for international duty and Wrexham may this week lose two more players.
Following Whitfield and Pejic's call-up, the Welshmen could lose two players to the Ireland under-21 team.
If Valentine plays on Friday against Finland he will win his sixth Under-21 cap having made his debut in June last year against Poland.
The former Everton youngster has improved with every game so far for Darlington and has established himself as an attacking full-back.
Former Darlington striker Peter Duffield is on the verge of creating history having scored six goals in six consecutive matches for York City.
His late penalty at Swansea on Saturday means he has now netted in all of York's games this season and he will become the first Minstermen to notch in seven consecutive games if he gets on the scoresheet at Bury on Friday. Fellow former Quaker, Martin Carruthers, also scored on Saturday as he grabbed his third of the season in a draw with Bristol Rovers.
However, Stuart Elliott, another ex-Quaker, didn't enjoy quite the same fortune as the Halifax midfielder saw his penalty saved in a scoreless draw at Barnet.
