FORMER Conservative leader William Hague and former Olympic champion Lord Seb Coe yesterday gave their physical support to a life-saving walk.
They joined a team of ambulance staff for part of a coast-to-coast trek in aid of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
The specially-adapted helicopter costs more than £1m a year to keep in the air and the money is all raised by volunteers.
Staff from the Tees, East and North Yorkshire Ambulance Service were joined by their colleagues from the West and South Yorkshire services for the 190-mile hike from St Bee's in Cumbria to Robin Hood's Bay, near Whitby.
Mr Hague and Lord Coe joined the fundraisers in the Dales yesterday and the walkers finally arrived in Richmond, last night.
Their effort, which began last week, is expected to reach its final destination on Friday afternoon.
Anyone who wants to help raise funds for the air ambulance is asked to contact John Evison on 07764 906515.
