A GIANT snake is jetting off to a new home after growing too big for his owners.
This summer, Scarlet, a 14-stone Burmese Python, became the biggest snake to be handed in at the Reptile Trust rehoming centre in Burnopfield, near Stanley, County Durham.
The snake's Scottish owners gave up the creature when it became too big for its tank.
Staff at the Reptile Trust have found a new home for Scarlet at a centre on the Algarve, Portugal.
The snake flies out tomorrow, alongside a large soft-shelled turtle heading for the same destination.
