THE region's first professional logistics college has received the seal of approval for its open learning courses.
The Durham Logistics College, set up to fill the gap in the specialist logistics training market, has been reviewed by the Institute of Logistics and Transport (ILT).
The college, in Finchale Road, Durham, offers a range of logistics and transport courses, including warehousing, distribution, purchasing, transport and management.
The ILT review involved a full evaluation of the college's systems and procedures in place to support the delivery and assessment of training. Everything from tutors' qualifications and experience, to the college's plans for continuous professional development were assessed.
Co-founder of the college Kevin Rumfitt is delighted with the college's success.
He said: "We were examined on every aspect of our training delivery, resources and assessment, and it gave us a real boost to be told we had passed with flying colours, particularly since the college was only established a year ago. It's a great endorsement of the institute's faith in our ability to provide top quality professional logistics training."
ILT qualifications manager Kate Brown, who carried out the review, added: "We are pleased to be able to endorse the high standards of the Durham Logistics College, the first of its kind in the region to provide specialist training that will promote professional standards.
